ESCWA organized a consultative meeting on SME Digital Enabling Portal in the Arab region (DEPAR) to identify the main content and functionalities of the portal. Relevant stakeholders and government entities explained the challenges facing SMEs and presented national experiences and programmes. ESCWA gave an overview of the SME Digital Enabling Platform. Participants assessed the content and provided technical and supportive proposals for SMEs.

This conference represents an Arab economic and investment gathering to encourage investment in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the digital revolution in the Arab world and to enhance the cooperation between the Arab countries in this field. It is a key platform that brings together all the Arab parties concerned with investment of senior officials, investment and promotion bodies, entrepreneurs and Arab companies involved in various sectors of digital investment.

SEF 2019 will guide the attendees on their inner quest, and elevate their entrepreneurial experience. With an aim to provide a curated view of both Sharjah’s and the wider region’s key entrepreneurship-related developments over the past year, the event’s motivational keynotes, knowledge-sharing panels, and interactive discussions and workshops will feature both regional and international leaders, experts, and decision-makers from government, academia, technology, business, and other key sectors. 

The objectives of this meeting are to discuss solutions to bridge the gaps in the national innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems of the Arab region. The focus will be on technopreneurs and their role in addressing SDGs and the connection to Science Technology Parks. The conference will also explore explore regional and global cooperation and networking opportunities among the players in the innovation/entrepreneurship ecosystem, specifically the establishment of a regional network of Science Technology Parks (STP). As well as, discussing the challenges, needs and expectations of SME owners developing content for and functionalities of the ESCWA SME Digital Enabling Portal.

Arab Bank is launching the first Fintech Bootcamp for Palestinian entrepreneurs with ideas within the Fintech industry. The bootcamp will provide entrepreneurs access to mentors, and key decision-makers within the Arab Bank to fine-tune ideas to become enterprise-ready. On the final day, participants will get the chance to present their solution on stage in front of key decision-makers in the Arab Bank. The top winning ideas will receive cash rewards.
