Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)

ESCWA has been working on a project for SMEs that aims to enhance and support the entrepreneurship ecosystem and private sector (M/SMEs) in Arab region. In This regard, ESCWA is developing an SME Digital Enabling Portal for the Arab region which will serve as a one stop shop for information related to finance, legislation, learning and development, UN initiatives and market opportunities.

UAE-Trade law

Federal law NO.18 of 1993

The law provides important details on aspects related to types of commercial business including eligibility requirements to practice a commercial business, store rent and insurance, types of commercial contracts, illegal competition, commercial ledgers, and guarantees.

UAE- Labour Law

Law NO. 8 of 1980

The law covers many important aspects related to workers and employers, it organizes individuals business relationship, rights and duties of employers & workers and sanctions.

Federal law NO.2 of 2014

The objectives of the law are to develop SMEs which play an important role in the economic development, also to strengthen SMEs' competitiveness, and to enhance the entrepreneurial environment, moreover, to spread the culture of creativity and innovation especially among youth generation.
