Islamic Banking Opportunities Across Small and Medium Enterprises in MENA

This report is a regional executive summary that compares data from nine individual country reports on Islamic banking opportunities across small and medium enterprises. It aims to summarize the findings put forward in the previous reports, analyze the existing structure, and look into future prospects. It provides a comparative analysis of the potential of Islamic banking for SMEs in the  Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Yemen-Patent law

Law NO.2 of 2011

The law aimed at promoting innovation and invention in Yemen, also to develop technical and scientific research in view of increasing the rate of local and foreign investments and trade, as well as the transfer of technologies to develop and promote industrial activities in Yemen.

Yemen-Tax law

Law NO. 17 of 2010

The law provides general rules regarding taxes on income and profits according to business type and by sector,also by revenue type (law is available in English).

Yemen-Investment law

Law NO. 22 of  1991

It determines the share of investors by nationality (Yemeni- and non-Yemeni), it also distinguishes between Arab and non-Arab investors, the law also offers many benefits as such customs duties exemption ( according to article NO.3), it also promote local production and local exports. the law is amended twice, first time by the law NO.14 of 1995, while the second time, by the law NO.29 of 1997.

Yemen-Industrial law

Law NO.20 of 2010

This law aimed at developing, developing, organizing and protecting industrial activity, diversifying its technologies and capabilities, and relying on local raw materials. And its production base and raise its competitiveness.

Yemen-Company law

Law NO. 22 of 1997

The law provides all information on how to set-up a company, its registration procedures, its legal form, name, company declaration and termination, as well as stakeholders' rights and shares.
